First Filter & Battery is a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan family owned and operated business since 1969.
First Filter & Battery opened its doors on July 1st, 1969 at 301 1st Avenue North in Saskatoon. The growing business necessitated moves to 314 Duchess Street in 1976, 2518 Faithful Avenue in 1982, 602A 51st Street East in 1987, 721 66th Street East in 2016, and expanded to online sales in 2017.
A family business from the beginning, First Filter & Battery was started by Clarence and his sons George, Doug, and Garth. Clarence’s wife Trudy looked after the office until her retirement in 1990. Clarence joined Trudy in retirement in 1994 leaving the operation of the business to his sons. The eldest of the sons, George retired in 2013 and Doug’s son Greg took over his role becoming the third generation of Hetterly to operate First Filter Service. Garth bowed out in 2019. Finally, Doug and Fern retired in 2021 leaving Kristin and Greg to man the helm.
Today First Filter & Battery is owned by Kristin and Greg Hetterly. Store manager Daniel runs most day to day operations. Alex, Lindsay, Marcel, Tyler, Sterling and new hires Danyca, Jaci, and Shawn round out the First Filter staff.
First Filter & Battery has always endeavored to keep abreast of industry changes and demands. The core business has always revolved around sales of new product. We stock only quality products that are engineered to meet or exceed OEM requirements.
